Richard Jordan
Irwin Mitchell
Partner, Head of Tax, Trusts & Estates
Richard is head of the Irwin Mitchell Tax, Trusts & Estates Team in London. He provides both technical and practical advice on tax and legal issues to the heads of a small number of ultra high net worth families and family offices. The majority of the families he looks after are from outside of the UK, but he also acts in a similar capacity for a small number of British families. In each relationship the family head also expects Richard to identify, manage, coordinate and ultimately deliver the legal, tax and the necessary administration services required by the family from within the business.
Aside from these established client relationships, Richard is also retained on specific tax-driven projects to provide advice to foreign families with significant wealth looking to move to or invest in the UK. This transactional work almost always involves tax efficient structuring alongside practical and commercial considerations, risk management and issues relating to family governance and succession planning. Richard travels to Switzerland and the Channel Islands frequently to meet with clients and family offices and also remains actively engaged with the UK tax authorities in the formulation of new legislation and previously enjoyed the pleasure of being on the STEP UK technical committee for many years. PAM, the leading Private Asset Management directory, has consistently recognised Richard as one of the 50 most influential people operating in the UK private wealth sector.
